There’s been a lot of talk about TikTok going away in the States and that’s been really racking my creative flow lately. Do we spend time on the platform creating content or not? Well, in comes Instagram to the rescue with Instagram Reels! Talk about unprecedented timing. So, what’s the big difference? In this video, I talk about the key differences from a creator’s perspective. There are surprisingly some really thoughtful features that are built into Instagram Reels that takes this type of content creation to another level. You can add clips now on top of music, have a similar feel for badges and text like you do with Instagram stories. Lots of things just seem to 'make sense' to those that have grown accustomed to the Instagram user interface over the past 5+ years. With every new platform, there are of course some things that I would have loved to see work better, such as downloading your content with the music intact, but I’m sure there will be a lot of Instagram Reels feedback that will be improved upon soon. Overall when compared to TikTok, I feel that the creative process is frictionless, and offers a very familiar feel to those who are used to creating in TikTok and Instagram. The opportunity right now, seems to be hot to strike on an evergreen platform. Could Instagram Reels be another semi-flop like Instagram’s IGTV?
