New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern denounced on Thursday, April 4, Brunei's decision to implement Islamic laws that would allow death by stoning for adultery and homosexuality.nBrunei, a Muslim-majority former British protectorate with a population of about 400,000, on Wednesday, April 3, began implementing Sharia laws, which punish sodomy, adultery and rape with the death penalty - including by stoning, and theft with amputation.nArdern said the new laws "fly in the face" of New Zealand principles on inclusion, human rights and the death penalty.
