Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is a plainclothes detective from Detroit whose last failed sting operation puts his job in jeopardy. His childhood friend, Mikey, is murdered, but Foley’s boss forbids him from working on the case… So he decides to “take a vacation” in Beverly Hills and find out who took his friend’s life, causing mayhem along the way.
