Dominic Cummings spent hours in front of a joint parliamentary committee answering questions from MPs, using it as a platform to launch scathing attacks on the government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. However, as The Telegraph's Associate Editor Gordon Rayner points out, the grilling wasn't without some hypocrisy on behalf of the Prime Minister's former adviser. At the very start, Mr Cummings criticised "key people" for going skiing in February 2020, and the Prime Minister for going on a holiday for two weeks, while he claimed he was attempting to bring Covid-19 to the forefront of the government's priorities. He also claimed he took no time off during his time working for the Government. What Mr Cummings did not reference, says Gordon Rayner, was his very own trip to Durham and Barnard Castle later on in the year, which arguably dealt far more damage to the public's trust of government measures.
