When The Slants tried to trademark their band name, they were blocked by the Patent and Trademark office, on the grounds that “Slant” is offensive to Asian Americans – even though the band is all Asian American. They ended up winning that battle. But recently, The Slants announced that they’ll no longer be playing live shows.
